What will I need to get to Galway?

Equipment

Training cycle info: 

  • Saturday & Sunday mornings, 10am at the south NUIM campus gates (check out our training plan)
  • Short distances in early January building up to 110km in March
  • Attendance is taken at each training cycle
  • For each training cycle, bring an isotonic drink, bananas, chocolate and some shopping money (€3)
  • For insurance purposes through Cycling Ireland, cyclists are asked to bring €10 to their first cycle

Cyclists need to raise:    

  • Student Cyclist - €250
  • NUIM Graduate Cyclist - €370
  • Cyclist - €420

What do I want?

Additional Extras

  • Padded shorts - especially if you want to sit down again... ever.
  • Gloves & warm footwear
  • Light rain jacket

Do I need to do much cycling training?

  • Yes... if you want to make it to Galway!
  • But. There are always support van ready to pick you up when you need a rest.
  • Compulsory attendance at the 3 mandatory training sessions, as well as fitness, it is important for our safety that everyone is familiar with cycling in a group.

We cycle... Maynooth -> Kinnegad -> Moate -> Ballinasloe -> Lough Rea -> G-G-G-Galway!!
